J G Faulds

JG Faulds originated in Glasgow, around 1900, with Patents for tools running back to 1892. Generations of the Faulds Family have owned and run this company, developing the tools through years of experience and feedback. Using traditional Blacksmithing skills to forge Chisel blanks, and brazing Sintered Tungsten Carbide Tips, Faulds was a pioneer for stone masonry tools. Faulds was brought into the Gibson Group of companies in 2001, when G Gibson & Co Ltd purchased the company and relocated it to their Leeds factory. Since then traditional methods of manufacture are still used, but new technology has meant that some of the repetitive processes are now carried out on CNC machines. Pneumatic shafts are turned on CNC lathes, Claw tools are drilled on Haas CNC millers for superb teeth spacing accuracy, and Cut-outs for Pitcher tips are machined and deburred. Whilst keeping the traditional look and feel of hand forged tools, these modern advancements have improved functionality and quality.
